About Covey
a small flock
in a big city.
Covey started with a simple frustration: most ways to meet people have nothing to do with what you actually want to do.
Group chats stall. Apps optimize for swipes, not Saturdays. The good plans live in someone's head and never leave it. So we built Covey around plans instead — a host posts a small itinerary, a ramen run, a bookstore loop, a sunrise hike, and a few seats stay open for whoever's curious.
Plans stay small on purpose: a handful of people, a few stops, a clear vibe. And when a group clicks, it doesn't have to end at the last stop — it can become a Covey that keeps meeting up. We're starting in San Francisco, where we live.
Why a quail

The California quail is the state bird — the one with the little teardrop plume. It's famously social: quail live in small groups called coveys that feed, move, and roost together. A small group that keeps showing up for each other is the whole idea, so we named the app after it, and gave our mascot the plume.

Quinn is Covey's quail: sneakers on, headband on, always up for the plan. Quinn shows up around the site — waving you in on the home page and reacting when you sign up for the waitlist.

We don't sell you on someone's photos. We show you what the day actually looks like — where, when, and with how many.

Hosts set the headcount, six seats by default. Small enough that everyone actually talks. We won't ship features that push capacity up for its own sake.

One good night is a coincidence. Friendship is repetition — so recaps, Coveys, and recurring plans exist to make the second hangout the easy default.

The best plans come from people with good taste and a generous instinct. We design every decision around making their job easier.

What is Covey?
An app for meeting people through small, real-world plans. A host posts a short itinerary — a few stops, a time, a set number of seats — and people who like the same things join. When a group clicks, it can become a Covey and keep meeting up.
How big are the plans?
Small. The host sets the headcount, and it's six seats by default. Date plans are always two.
What's a Covey?
A standing group that plans things together — your climbing crew, book club, or Sunday pickup game. Coveys can be open, request-to-join, or invite-only, and can run a recurring plan weekly, every two weeks, or monthly.
How much does it cost?
Covey is free. Some plans have their own costs — a dinner, a class, a ticket — which you'd cover like any night out.
When can I start using Covey?
We're opening in waves, starting in San Francisco. Join the waitlist and we'll email you as soon as there's a spot for you. We'd rather tell you when it's real than promise a date.
What's the difference between the waitlist and the newsletter?
The waitlist is for the app: one email when it's your turn. Covey Weekly is a free list of things to do in San Francisco that anyone can read. They're separate signups, and you can be on either, both, or neither.
Is it a dating app?
No. Covey is about real plans first. Dating is an optional opt-in, and most plans are simply people doing something together.
